Appreciation

Letters from the public

From Upton Bishop Church

Many thanks for the lovely surprise, your message and kind donation, that met us in the church at Upton Bishop last week. I hardly need to tell you how much we value donations! The church is a greedy beast and currently needs every penny for repairs.  I’m so pleased to know that people use the church in passing and find it welcoming. For future reference, there is tea, coffee and squash, as well as mugs, in the cupboard behind the bookcase on the left as you come in and water in the vestry behind the organ. Please feel free to help yourselves. We keep the WC locked but can arrange to open it if we know you are coming. Happy walking.

From Ganarew Church

On behalf of our PCC, very many thanks for the kind (and most helpful) donation your Walking Group left with us this afternoon. For us, we derive great pleasure in knowing that our churchyard is appreciated and enjoyed. I am sorry that the church door didn’t yield to you – the warmth of a summer day causes the ironwork on the door to expand and a sharp push (with the foot) on the bottom is sometimes needed. Ironically, this morning I left it unlocked for the first time since the start of this wretched pandemic. With all good wishes.
